Libre software is not automatically liberatory software.
- Libre (i.e. free) software is mainly about freedom to study, use and build upon the software (four freedoms).
- Liberatory software contributes to social, economic and political transformation.
- Libre software is politically neutral about the use to which the software is put.
- Liberatory software is explicitly normative about what software should be used for.
- Libre software must be embedded in ecosocialist politics for it to be liberatory.
